This is the same Chicken Lollypop that was up north in the convenience store, but he had to love out of that location. He is just getting settled into this new food truck and space, so for the time being I would recommend taking your food to go rather than eating there. It was easy to find street parking (free).
I always recommend his signature Chicken Lollypops and I loved the Curry Fried Rice with chicken! Not too spicy but great flavor, good portion size, and I loved the green beans in it and especially the fried egg on top. If you have an egg allergy you can also ask to omit the egg. We also enjoyed our Ginger Chicken which comes with white rice.
The proprietor is very nice and takes great pride in his food. He is also very community oriented - he stopped selling beverages so that he could send some traffic to the other truck in the same little area. He is hoping to renovate the lower area of the building next to his truck so that he can provide diners an indoor seating area.
I definitely recommend his food and can't wait until he gets fully settled in.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ethan R.Austin, TX35261Apr 24, 2018
Chicken Lollypop used to languish in obscurity in the back of a gas station on Braker Lane. The gas station raised the rent, and their loss is East Austin's gain. This is 100% authentic Indochinese food. Part Indian, part manchurian, all delicious spicy flavor.
The titular Lollypop is probably the go-to dish on the menu (think the most delicious drumstick you've ever had) but you really can't go wrong with anything.
The location as currently listed is incorrect. It's currently across from Rio Rita, just north of 12th and Chicon. There are a bunch of other great places near there (Rio Rita itself is super cool) but Chicken Lollypop deserves a warm welcome from the east side. Go give it a try ASAP.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Wes W.Austin, TX200121Sep 10, 2018Updated review
It's gotten a bit popular now, and the owner appears to be a little overwhelmed. Don't try coming for lunch. The times are wrong, and it's anyone's guess when they open. It's supposed to open at 11:30am, but I've stopped a few times and driven by other times all the way up until 1pm without it being open.
For dinner, since he's by himself, when I called in an order, he had to ask to call me back. After I ordered, he told me it would be ready in 30 minutes. I showed up 40 minutes later and he hadn't started making it yet.
If you wait or eat there, bring bug spray. I had long sleeves and pants but got three mosquito bites on my hand before going to the car to get repellant.
The food is great and that's what matters, but the other parts of the experience are becoming frustrating.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jun 6, 2018Previous reviewUPDATE: The address has been corrected.

What a hidden little gem!
The food at this place was delicious tonight, and the owner couldn't have been more pleasant, personable and helpful.
My friend and I split the chicken lollipops (pictured) and the chicken garlic fried rice. I really enjoyed the namesake chicken lollipop, but the chicken garlic fried rice we got at the owner's recommendation was some of the best fried rice I've ever had. It's served with a fried egg on top and bursts with flavor.
Make sure to bring a drink though. Right now, they don't sell drinks. There is a liquor store that's mostly open when the food truck is open though, and they sell water and soft drinks. There's also Rio Rita bar across the street.May 7, 2018Previous reviewWhat a hidden little gem!

It's important to note though -- the address is incorrect if it still says 12 Chicon St. It's at 12th AND Chicon, or approximately 1204 Chicon St. If you have trouble, it's directly across from Rio Rita and worth checking out. It's a great addition to a burgeoning East Austin food scene. - Olivia R.Denver, CO412319Jan 14, 2019
What I had:
- Paneer Schezwan Naan Wrap: Sooo, you can't eat it as a wrap, because the Paneer Schezwan completely dish's through the naan. It was the best dish, but still not great.
- Garlic Shrimp: Not a lot of shrimp, the shrimp was a tad tough, but not awful, the veggies were drooowning in an overly spicy yet bland sauce. I def wouldn't recommend this.
- Triple Schezwan Fried Rice (Chicken): the chicken was dry, there wasn't much, the rice was bland, the egg would've been better if it were over-easy or over-medium but it was completely cooked through. I funny finish this and wouldn't recommend it.
I don't recommend this place. It's bland and not good. I liked the naan, which isn't like a fluffy pita but like a toasted, crispy, tortilla, but that's literally. it. Everything else is trash fodder.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mohammad A.Sugar Land, TX04Jan 28, 2019
Chicken Lollipop, Paneer Wrap, Chili chicken fried rice & Manchurian fried rice are excellent.
Service can be a bit slow because food is made freshHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michael T.Austin, TX69162Jul 16, 2018
I will never, ever recover from my first bite into the Lollypop, a standard street fare in Bombay whose bombastic flavor cannot be rivaled.
The nondescript trailer sits in a well manicured lot shared with a shaved ice vendor and across the street from Rio Rita's new location adjacent "the mural." I arrived as the namesakes were in their final hour of marinating and, despite my protests, Immie would not cook them a moment before they were due. The subsequent hourlong wait was worth it for the 'pops, a shrimp rice plate, spinach, and naan*, all of which far exceeded the quality of prior South Asian dishes procured domestically, as well as meeting my optimistic expectations...and matching every other review that you'll see here or elsewhere.
I'm not sure if the extended serving times are common, as I've only made one visit. I do know that Immie cooks everything to order, on the spot, grinding spices and whipping sauces between moves on the stove. I will call ahead in the future, but for your first visit it might serve you to meet the chef, discuss the offerings, and learn a little bit about his passion for cooking.
While I'm sure everything on the menu is delicious, not to mention well-priced, you do not want to be on the "not-having-had-a-lollipop" side of history for any longer than required.

Chicken Lollypop is truly a hidden gem and the next big thing.! Originally it was located at an ordinary convenience store on Breaker before it closed. Luckily I was able to find it again as it has morphed into a food truck on the corner of 12th and Chicon. Luckily for me because Chicken Lollypop is one of favorite places to eat. Everything tastes incredible, there is variety of flavors/dishes, the naan is amazing (best naan I've ever had), & the prices reasonable! Immie the chef is a perfectionist and puts his heart and soul into his cooking. He really cares about the quality of his food & his customers This place is AMAZING. I highly recommend it to everyone!!! I do recommend you call and place an order before picking it up so as to avoid the wait.

Obviously the first rule of eating out is that, if a place has a dish in their name, you have to order that thing. Chicken lollypops are amazing. If you've never had a frenched drumette before, you're really missing out. I know it seems overkill (isn't a drumette already easy to eat?) but it is not. Chi'lantro stopped frenching their k-pops so this is the only place I'm aware of in town where you can get this, so that's neat. The spices on them here are terrific and my wife agreed. However, my wife was displeased with the texture of her lollypops as they're soft rather than crispy. Although crispy chicken is obviously the superior type of chicken, you should still get this dish.
We also ordered the chili paneer. The paneer had a great texture and flavor although I will admit that I prefer a thicker gravy than what comes with this dish. I had never had this served anywhere else so I assume that this is a spot on perfect rendition of chili paneer and that this just isn't for me. Next time I go, I will order some other paneer dish.
We ordered the chicken 65 and found it delicious but have you ever had chicken 65 that wasn't delicious?
Finally, we got the veggie garlic fried rice because so many people raved about it. Let's be clear: this is very good fried rice. This is not the *best* fried rice I've ever had, as some people boldly claimed in their reviews. This is a solid order and you'll be happy eating it but I would rank it on par with other great fried rices I've had.
Chicken Lollypop used to be in the back of a gas station that was so far north that I think the location is best described as "South Waco." Or at least that's how far away it felt when driving home with a sack full of delicious food. Now that's 5 minutes from my house, I'm much happier. Better still - technically this is distinct from Indian food which, in my opinion, means that you can eat this and regular Indian food both in the same week.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
